Nature Alberta received nearly 100 submissions for our fall photo contest. Thank you to everyone who contributed photos. Your pictures were beautiful and diverse representing animals, plants, people, scenery and hidden gems from across our beloved province.
Making the decision wasn’t easy, but our Selection Committee has awarded the grand prize to R. Sarkar’s stunning, photo titled “Columbia Icefields.”
R. Sarkar takes home the grand prize of a Nature Alberta Gift Package (valued at $250).
We’d also like to recognize and congratulate all of our category winners and honorable mentions. Category winners receive a publication of choice from the Nature Alberta store.
The diversity of Alberta’s natural landscapes/scenery including everything from the grasslands and parkland, to the boreal forests, foothills and Rocky Mountains.
The vast range of Alberta’s flora and fauna including Alberta’s mammals, birds, waterfowl, trees, vegetation.
Nature lovers of all ages, as well as Nature Alberta volunteers and club members in action; from simply enjoying the outdoors to helping out at fundraising events, participating in birding activities, nature walks, bird and plant counts, etc.
Urban and rural; share the natural environment that surrounds your home and how you experience nature in your own backyard.
The remote and lesser known places, animals and plants found in Alberta.
Activities that conserve and protect Alberta’s natural heritage, such as tree planting, wetland restoration, lakeshore management, habitat preservation activities and so much more. The Category Winner is S. Weizenbach with “Stephanie and Willow Out at a Ducks Unlimited Property.”

In 1970, six natural history clubs joined together to form the Federation of Alberta Naturalists. Today, this same organization, known as Nature Alberta serves a membership of over 40 clubs and represents thousands of individuals across the province. Every one of these individuals share a passion for natural history.
