Current job opportunities at Nature Alberta

Shoreline Advisor

Nature Alberta, Edmonton (3 positions) – Nature Alberta requires three energetic students to work as Shoreline Advisors throughout the province of Alberta. The duration of the work term is approximately 3 months. Express your passion for water and conservation by developing and delivering outreach programs for The Living by Water Project.

Living by Water is a unique educational program that teaches waterfront residents about environmentally-friendly practices that will help maintain shoreline and water health. We encourage shoreline residents to respect the role shoreline habitats play in the enjoyment of their everyday lives, and try to emphasize how important it is to recognize the potential impacts that day-to-day activities have on aquatic systems. The Homesite Consultation is the cornerstone of this educational process. It aims to directly teach residents about the positive actions they can take to maintain healthy shorelines.  Shoreline Advisors work with the residents on their property to offer suggestions on how to protect the lake and encourage environmental stewardship.

We are seeking students who are returning to school in a university, college or technical school who possess knowledge of riparian and water related topics.  Ideal candidates should be committed to best practices in environmental education and outreach, as well as have a passion for the conservation and protection of Albertas natural history.  You will have strong interpersonal skills, be outgoing, and work well both independently and in a team environment.

  • Enrolled full time in a post secondary institution, working toward a degree or diploma in environmental studies, natural sciences or similar discipline;
