Plains Garter Snake
Thamnophis radix
Adults: 50 cm - 105 cm
Tell tale scales: a bright orange racing strip the length of its spine, yellow or cream stripes on the sides, and dark green body colour.
Where out there: fond of watering holes on the prairies and in parkland.
Cool Facts: Any garter snake will pee on you if you pick it up! It can't hurt you, but it will scare off those with a good sense of smell.
