Adults: 37 cm -140 cm

Tell tale scales: rattled tail, and large triangular head (wider than the neck). Dusty tan/brown, with dark blotches and a light-coloured strip running from the eye to the corner of the mouth; vertical pupils and facial pits.

Where out there: short-grass prairie and dry areas with sandy soil, native pastures to badland areas.

Cool Facts: Rattlesnakes don't want problems. They hope their rattle will scare away any potential threats. If you hear one, back away. If you do get bitten splint the extremity, reduce exertion and proceed to a hospital.
