Red-sided Garter Snake
Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis
Adults: 46 cm - 130 cm
Tell tale scales: red marks on the side, although some snakes lack there. Body colour is dark, with yellow stripes on the spine and sides.
Where out there: : found near wetlands in boreal forest and parkland.
Cool Facts: Alberta biologists have successfully relocated a snake den away from concerned residents who did not want it on their lawn
