BCBC reopens just in time for the July Long Weekend
Although the centre was undamaged by the fires, we needed some time to get things back to normal before we were ready for company. Plus with the damage to the provincial government centre in Slave Lake, the Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park District Office has now moved out to the Boreal Centre as well. Alberta Parks staff will be available during weekdays to answer any questions related to the many beautiful parks in the Slave Lake Area.
This weekend, visitors and our friends are invited to come and check out the exhibits, meet our new summer staff, and explore the boreal forest trails at the centre. Boreal Centre programming will also be resuming with several special interpretive programs taking place in the park over the long weekend. Even though the centre was closed in June, our staff has been very busy providing special education programs to local Slave Lake elementary school students in partnership with the Lesser Slave Forest Education Society.
Short term accommodation is now available once again at The Nest: A Boreal Hostel over the summer season. This peaceful retreat is located right in the middle of Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park and it is very popular with visitors. Bookings can be made by contacting the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation at 780-849-8240.
