Concern over a recent application to the City of Edmonton to mine gravel

The North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society Announcement: Mining in Edmonton's pristine river valley has not been allowed for over 40 years and for good reason - is is environmentally destructive, and several viable gravel pits are abundant withing close proximity.

Concern over a recent application to the City of Edmonton to mine gravel in Edmonton's largest remaining natural area know as BIG ISLAND/WOODBEND NAATURAL AREA. To date very few citizen's of Edmonton have been made aware of this application.

It is imperative that City Council hear from as many individuals as possible who oppose this application. A public hearing is currently being planned and could take place as early as May 16, 2011.
