BiographyInitiated by long-time Ferintosh resident, Vera Jackson, Friends of Little Beaver Lake was launched in the summer of 2007. Our basic goals are to enjoy our lake, to learn about the plants and animals that live here and to care for this area in the best ways possible to us. Our projects have included sponsoring special presentations open to the community, testing of water and shoreline quality, building nesting boxes for wild ducks, funding a paddler’s dock, erecting interpretive signs, and maintaining a nature trail. The society meets once a month, usually on the last Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hi-U centre in the village. Membership fees are $20 per year – and include two members from a household. |
In 1970, six natural history clubs joined together to form the Federation of Alberta Naturalists. Today, this same organization, known as Nature Alberta serves a membership of over 40 clubs and represents thousands of individuals across the province. Every one of these individuals share a passion for natural history.
