Dry Island PP Butterfly Count

Sunday, July 3 from 10 am to 4 pm
Join Buffalo Lake Nature Club and Alberta Lepidopterist Guild for the Dry Island Provincial Park Annual Butterfly Count to continue Dr. Charley Bird's Legacy of butterfly data at this location.
When: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Meet at the upper parking lot at Dry Island Provincial Park
What: Join a leader from Alberta Lepidopterist Guild to catch and count butterflies throughout the provincial park.
Bring:
- lots of water
- pack along snacks & a lunch
- closed-toed shoes
- sunscreen and bug spray
- if you have one, bring along your own butterfly net and jar for catch and release identification of butterflies
This count was started by Dr. Charley Bird in 1999. This year's results will contribute to the ongoing dataset that has been collected each year at this location. There will be a group photo at 12:15 p.m. and the event participants will also gather at 3:30 p.m. to wrap up results.
