Synopsis
Published in 1995, this book is still an excellent resource offering a look at the breeding birds in the province. Each species description within includes:
– Status, distribution, habitat, nesting and behavior,
– A full color map showing the bird’s breeding range in relation to province’s natural regions, the distribution of species and man, and
– Species-specific peculiarities, protective legislation, and changes in range limits.

The publication also provides an extensive bibliography, index, glossary and guide to identification. Alberta’s natural regions are defined and described by means of land, climate and vegetation profiles. Notes on migrants, accidentals and milestones in Alberta ornithology will be of interest to the advanced birder.
