Did you know that the best way to find and observe wildlife in Alberta and Saskatchewan is to first check out the local geology?

From the Rocky Mountains to the rain shadow of the prairies, geology has a strong impact on wildlife distribution. In this presentation, the relationships between wildlife and landscape will be explored through the lives of Golden Eagles over the Rockies, American Pikas in eroding mountains and Burrowing Owls on glaciated plains. Dr. Leckie weaves science with spectacular photographs and beautiful art to take you to interesting places across the prairie provinces.

Dr. Dale Leckie is a geologist, speaker and best-selling author who worked with the Geological Survey of Canada and was the chief geologist at Nexen, a large Canadian energy company. An adjunct professor at the University of Calgary, Dr. Leckie has written/edited several books and has published widely on the geology of western Canada.

Wildlife, Landscapes, and Geology: An Alberta and Saskatchewan Touring Guide is the third in his best-selling trilogy of books about geology. All his books encourage the public to appreciate local geology and to get out and explore the prairie provinces.
