Owl Migration Monitoring Program
Fall means the start of Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory's (LSBO) Owl Migration Monitoring Program! Audio lures are used to capture Northern Saw-whet and Boreal Owls at the Boreal Centre to learn more about their population status, ecology and migration.
If you are interested in learning more about this program, you can sign up for one of LSBO's Owl Night Programs on October 13 or 14. This family friendly program starts up at 7:30 with an owl presentation from our researchers plus night hike, scavenger hunts, crafts and hopefully the chance to see an owl! Space is limited so sign up early.
You can also book an Evening Owl Program for your school or community groups. While you wait to see if we catch an owl, learn about our Alberta owl species, ecology and amazing adaptations, with lots of fun hands-on activities.
