Volunteer at Christmas Bird Count
Calling Volunteer Bird Guides!
Join Nature Alberta on December 17th at Gold Bar Park to be a part of something truly special and volunteer to guide bird watching walks to inspire a love of nature in the next generation!
This is a fantastic opportunity to connect families with nature and participate in some incredible citizen science! We'll also have a presentation from the Beaverhill Bird Observatory (BBO) featuring a very special guest Tansi, the Great Horned Owl! that families and volunteers will get to meet.
The event will run from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. The bird-watching walk will take place at 2:00 pm after the presentation from BBO.
Volunteer Duties include:
- Assisting with event set up and take down
- Lead families along trails searching for birds
- Helping identify birds as you're able
All levels of birding knowledge are welcome. Previous experience with bird watching is welcome but not required. This will be a great opportunity to build your skills as well!
Volunteer Photographer
- (Position filled. Thank you to everyone who shared interest!)
We are also looking for an enthusiastic photographer to help document this event through pictures!
Volunteer Duties Include:
- Take photographs of the event's activities without getting recognizable faces in the final photos
- Edit and transfer photos to Nature Alberta staff after the completion of the event using a Google Drive folder
Please dress for the weather. We will be outside for most of the time walking along the trails, so warm clothes are a must. You're also welcome to bring any binoculars or guidebooks you'd like. Water bottles are great too.
