CWF Great Canadian Bioblitz 2024

Save the date!! September 13 through 16, CWF hosts their first ever Great Canadian Bioblitz! Join Canadians coast to coast in tracking biodiversity using the free iNaturalist app.

The data collected during the CWF Great Canadian Bioblitz can help monitor biodiversity at a key time when late summer flowers are in bloom, species are making their way to hibernation sites or migrating to overwintering grounds. This information can be invaluable to scientists and wildlife organizations. Who knows what species you might find — something endangered or invasive or a species that has moved out of its range or shifted timing to adapt to habitat or climate change. Wildlife is very active at this time of year, so it presents a great opportunity to discover more about the natural world around you!

Anybody can use the free iNaturalist app to make observations of all the wild flora and fauna they can find — from moss and fungi to the tiniest insect to birds, mammals, trees and more. It’s a great way to explore nature while contributing to both an active scientific database and our national total of species. Register your participation today at GreatCanadianBioblitz.org.
