  • ENC City Walk: 360-Degree Nature Walk

When: Tue, March 5, 9:30am – 12:30pm | Sat, March 23, 9:30am – 12:30pm

Leader: Wayne Oakes

Description: 360 degrees, observing all manner of nature's biodiversity! Gravel trails with gentle grade slopes, easy walking for most. MEMBERS ONLY (no registration required)

Meeting time: 9:30 a.m.

Location: Whitemud Creek north trail, Edmonton (full washroom facility)

Meet: at the north end of Whitemud Creek trail, just off Fox Drive. Meet at the parking lot for the Alfred H Savage Centre (13909 Fox Drive)

Duration: 3 hours


  • ENC City Walk: Goldbar Park

When: Wed, March 27, 9:30am – 12:00pm
Where: Gold Bar Park, 10955 50 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 2E9, Canada (map)
Description: A morning walk along the river might produce some interesting duck species. We may see bald eagles and other raptors in the area (at times, great horned owls). If there is time and we are willing, we can look at some of the other trails for woodpeckers, robins, Townsend’s solitary, nuthatches, and other resident species. Suitable for anyone who wants to bird with others.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Difficulty: Mostly easy trails. Dress for the weather. Might be icy.

Meet: at Goldbar Park parking lot near where the off leash trails start.


  • ENC City Walk: Hermitage Park

When: Wed, April 3, 8:30am – 11:00am
Where: Hermitage Park, 2115 Hermitage Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 5H5, Canada (map)
Description: A walk around the Kennedale Pond (in the unleashed dog park area) looking for spring arrivals. There may be Canada geese, various ducks, mergansers, occasionally pelicans and double-crested cormorants. We can then either walk up Kennedale Ravine for more woodland birds or walk near the river by the frisbee golf course depending on the group’s preference. Suitable for anyone who wants to bird with others.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Difficulty: Mostly easy to medium difficulty trails. Dress for the weather. Might be icy.

Meet: Exit off Victoria Trail at Hermitage Road NW. Stay to the left at the park entrance and park near the dog park entrance.
