Summary: The Alberta Lake Management Society (ALMS) is seeking energetic
individuals with biology or environmental science backgrounds for our LakeWatch
Technician positions. The position is best suited for new or recent graduates from a
Bachelor of Science or technical diploma program. The work term will run for 5-6
months (full time from May to mid-October). The successful candidates will travel to
select lakes throughout Alberta to collect water quality data in partnership with local
citizen scientists. LakeWatch Technicians will be responsible for coordinating citizen
scientists who are essential for data collection. The position has a strong fieldwork
component and, though based in Edmonton, will involve considerable driving
throughout the province. A majority of waterbodies of interest are located in central
Alberta and the Cold Lake region. Though the primary responsibility will be the delivery
of the LakeWatch program, the successful candidates will also support the delivery of
additional ALMS summer programs related to lake monitoring and outreach initiatives.
