Summer Interns – BBO

The Beaverhill Bird Observatory (BBO), located east of Edmonton, near Tofield, AB, is the oldest bird observatory in Alberta, second oldest in the country, and we have been researching our wild migratory songbirds for the last 35 years! The field season is approaching fast and we are looking for some enthusiastic individuals to join our internship team to help us continue our long term monitoring programs.

Internship Positions include:

  • Tree Swallow Intern (2 positions)
    Checking and monitoring nest boxes used by breeding swallows
  • House Wren Intern (2 positions)
    Checking and monitoring nest boxes used by breeding house wrens
  • Breeding Brid Grid Intern (1 position)
    Conducing bird point counts surveys while walking through grasslands
  • Butterfly Intern (1 position)
    Walking transects, catching and identifying butterfly species
  • Bat Intern (2 positions)
    Checking bat box occupancy and conducting evening acoustic surveys

Requirements: These internships are open to post-secondary students who have their own transportation, and enthusiasm for the natural world!
