Thistle Be The One
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is inviting you to join them to remove invasive thistle from the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary.
Located only 30 kilometers from Edmonton, the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary protects 149 hectares of marshland, open meadow, aspen parkland and pine forest. The varied habitats here attract a diversity of animals, including more than 100 bird species. The sanctuary is a special place for hiking and connecting to nature.
You will help remove invasive thistles from the property and prevent it from taking over the native plant communities there. Working in teams, you’ll spread out across the property to pull any new thistle sprouts before they have a chance to seed. A reminder that pulling thistle involves bending over and repetitive motion.
When: July 12, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Where: Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary, Spruce Grove, AB (GPS Coordinates: 53.412580 -113.787625)
