2023 Alberta Biodiversity Challenge Results

Final results for the 2023 Alberta Biodiversity Challenge have been tabulated! The bioblitz ran from 8-11 June, and observations from those days could be posted up until June 30, 2023. We then left the project open for identifications until July 31. The official results are now in.

Final Results: tabulated 1 Aug 2023 by GRP:

Overall in AB, we had 8195 observations of 1704 species, by 719 observers, identified by 614 volunteer identifiers. Top observers were @caterpillerlover (451 obs, 252 spp); @wowokayyes (324 obs, 120 spp); @whitemudwayne (294 obs, 175 spp).

Metro Edmonton won the Edmonton-Calgary rivalry for number of observations (2284) and species (748), but Calgary wins for the arguably more important measure of overall participation, with 238 observers.
