Saturday, May 21 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary led by Lu Carbyn himself! The Sanctuary is a 1 hour drive west of Edmonton and is home to over 95 bird species!
Join Lu Carbyn, renowned Wildlife Biologist and Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta, in this bird identification course. Lu will introduce bird taxonomy, review family groups and narrow in on one taxa – North American Sparrows in Alberta – to illustrate identification techniques and their ecology. This course is ideal for novice birders and seasoned birders looking to expand their knowledge. Lu will then lead you on a field trip in May to the Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary (https://www.ealt.ca/lu-carbyn-nature-sanctuary) where you will see a vast variety of species of sparrow, warblers, and waterfowl. You may even catch a glimpse of iconic species such as the Common Loon and Trumpeter Swan.
