#CreatingConnection – Erin’s Story

Kids who love nature become adults who protect nature.

“My kids love Family Nature Nights! My six-year-old twins have participated for two summers and always ask why it can't run all year long! I love the opportunity to see different city parks, which I otherwise might not make the effort to visit. The kids learn about plants, animals, and ecology in a fun and engaging way, through games and hands-on activities. The volunteer experts show the kids neat bugs, take them on short hikes, get them planting trees or using dip nets to discover life in the ponds, and always get the kids laughing and asking questions. At the end of the event every kid gets something nature-related to take home with them. I think it is the best thing going in Edmonton in summer to get kids engaged in the outdoors.”
