Volunteer with Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society

Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society (WGPPS) is inviting you to volunteer at their upcoming events.

  • Pathways and River Clean up

Spring is here, summer’s ahead. It’s time to clean the Weaselhead!

Sunday, May 5th, 9:45 a.m to noon.

The Weaselhead Preservation Society’s 29th Annual Clean-up is slated for SundayMay 5th. It’s a walk in the park! (with litter sticks.)

If you want to participate, simply email the Clean-Up Coordinator, Paul Finkleman pfinkleman@shaw.ca  and let him know if others will be joining you.

We meet by ‘The Weasel-shed’ at the NW corner of the Weaselhead parking lot, 66th avenue and 37th street S.W. and start between 9:45 and 10:15. Come to the sign-up table as soon as you arrive, and we’ll supply you with bags, litter-grabbers and a variety of refreshing drinks and granola bars. We recommend you wear a hat and appropriate footwear. We finish at noon, at which time we will be drawing for a number of prizes.

We hope to see you there!

  • May Plant Count 2024

Help us count the flowering plants in the Weaselhead!
We will be doing a thorough sweep of the park to try to catch as many flowering plants as possible, visiting specific places we know certain plants are flowering.
This will be a slow paced walk on and off trail throughout the park. This volunteer event will roughly be 3 hours long, although you can leave early if you are not able to stay the whole time.
No plant ID experience necessary Just bring your observations skills and a camera/iPhone if possible.
Can't join us on the day? We still encourage you to head out on your own through the Weaselhead and make a list or snap a picture of any plant/shrub you see flowering. No need to identify the plant if you are unsure. Just upload all your sitings to iNaturalist and contribute to the data collection!
